Why AI Became Visible So Quickly
Computing, data, and a chat box made the technology easy to try. Visibility still leaves the hard questions open.
Three ordinary reasons
The recent surge has a plain explanation. Computers that train large models became more widely available. Organizations had already collected enormous sets of text, images, and clicks. Then a simple chat box let a person try the result without installing a lab.
Those three changes made the technology feel sudden. The research behind it was older. A new interface can make an old idea look like it arrived overnight.
Visible is not the same as settled
A tool can be everywhere in headlines and still fail on a basic fact, a local rule, or a task it was not built for. Growth has also been uneven. Some writing and customer-service tasks changed quickly. Many jobs that depend on hands, places, licenses, or trust changed little.
This page will not treat a product announcement as proof that a method works in a school, a clinic, a shop, or a courtroom. A demo is a demo.
Room for a dated record
Names, prices, and capabilities move. This category keeps a list for dated notes so a later change can be added with a date and a source, after it has been checked. No note is posted yet. An empty list is more honest than a recycled headline.
